Here are the books that I am attempting to read.

  • How Dogs Think
    Stanley Coren
This is the best book of the ones that I have so far. I'm only 1/4 of the way through and I already know more about dogs than I ever thought I would. He goes into too much depth sometimes and I have to put it down for a while. One of the Amazon reviewers stated that "anyone who owns a dog should read this book!" I think I agree.

  • Doctor Dunbar's Good Little Dog Book
    Dr. Ian Dunbar
It's a very thin book, not wordy at all and it has a lot of pictures (which is always good). There is no fluff and not much why, but a lot of how to do things. What I like best is that the pictures show correct hand positioning for the sight commands. It will be a good reference book for the times I want an answer quickly on one page instead of ten.

  • The New Better Behavior in Dogs
    William Campbell
I haven't even started this book yet.

  • The Art of Raising a Puppy
    The Monks of New Skete
Okay, I bought into the marketing hype on this one. Everyone says how great the book is. I don't know, it lost me about the second page. Maybe I'm not patient enough. I just kept thinking "so what?" I'll have to give this one another chance, later.

Alert Dog Survey
Dr. Wells of Queen's University in Belfast, Ireland is conducting research into diabetic alert dogs. If you're type 1 and have a dog, that alerts or not, please complete her survey. It will help us all by giving her as much information as possible.
